What Was Lost

I muse over the many things that once was.
I review old photos, visit people and places that bring back a flood of memories of another decade, and step back onto another timeline of my life for a few moments.
I invite James to join me:
"Time is a funny thing. We want more of it. We want it slower. We want it faster. I actually shouldn't say 'we' because it is more of a human thing. Humans are never satisfied with time. But, time doesn't exist in some ways. It's elusive. We try to capture it. In moments. In photos. In a memory. But, it is gone as soon as it comes.
"I know humans want what was lost. What is now gone. I do, too. Animals do. But, not nearly as much as humans. We experience loss, but we don't usually fixate on it. I wish I could bring everything back for you because it would make you so happy. And, I want to see you happy. I want to see your face beaming. I want it all back for that reason. But, me, I am content with the passage of time.
"I do hope for more green grass. I miss the fields when they were lush.
"Don't hold too tightly to what was, for it will block you from being open to what's new and coming."
Love, James
