Peace Is What You Are

I drive into a place
That I have been coming to almost daily
For 10 years
My home away from home
So many memories
But now it’s different.
And I’m different.
I miss my naiveté.
I know too much now.
James, witnessing me inside my head, shares his thoughts:

“As best you can, try to celebrate what you have, not what you’ve lost. Surrender to the change, to the ebb and flow. I’ve had to let go, too. I’ve lost and grieved. And, I’m OK with how things are. I have found peace. Peace is a choice- something we allow to come up from deep within. Peace- it is something that we are. It wells up from down deep when we drop our attachments and let go. We label this perceived feeling that wells up as ‘peace.' But, it’s not really something we feel, although it seems that way. It’s something that we are. When enough other stuff falls away- there it is. The peace is just there. I am peace. You are peace. We are peace. And, that’s a sacred thing. You’ve reached a whole other level of spiritual development and attunement when you know that. Peace is not something you have. Peace is what you are.” -James
