We're The Same

I was curious what James thought about my opportunity to see and hang out with the wild horses of the Inyo National Forest. The energy of those encounters still lingers in my awareness, and my writings on the pack trip that I have shared here the last four weeks still feels fresh. So, I asked James what he thought:
James piped up immediately:
"I'm really glad you had that experience. Your entire group was so thoughtful with the wild horses. What an experience for you! But, domestic horses like me and the wild ones like them: we're the same and we're different. The wildness still courses through my body. The ancient memory is in my bones. I carry the wild within me. I'm the same as them. And, I am different."
"Humans are the same way. You are all different. And, yet, you are all the same. Humans carry a wildness in them. Some of you are more in touch with it than others. But, you all carry a wildness inside. For most of you it is very dormant. The memory is in your cells. In your DNA. You are the same and you are different. Some humans get what I am saying. Some don't. But, we all carry it. That wildness. That beautiful wildness. It starts with our feet. Connecting with the ground helps us remember. Let your hooves pound the Earth. Feel it inside your heart. Let your heart sync up with the hoofbeat."
"We horses remember. The wild ones you spent time with saw your pure hearts and the
intense longing for the wild, even if all of you did not know that is what you are longing for."
"The wild horses saw you. I see you. Welcome Home."
Love, James
