This week James wants to talk about apples! The apple tree that is on the property where James lives is just about out of apples. After his grain and hay, James walks himself over to the apple tree and stands there waiting for me to supply him with apples. But, there are not any more. At least not any I can reach. So, I have been collecting apples from about six or seven different trees in the area. I take my dogs to a variety of places for our walks each day, and I have learned where the apple trees are. I bring an empty bag, and load up on the apples that have fallen to the ground in the open spaces where we walk. It’s a lot of apples! I bring them to the barn, and when James moseys on over to the apple tree, I feed him the apples I have gathered:
“Remember a long time ago when I used that human phrase and said that you were
the apple of my eye? You still are! And, I love, love, love apples! I know you are bringing me apples from different trees. They taste different, and smell different, and feel different to my body when I eat them. They have different qualities. A variety of nutrients and phytochemicals. They are not all the same. It’s good to get them from different sources, as where each tree grows picks up different properties from the soil and its environment. We forget how magical it is to grow an apple, and there is such an abundance of them this year! Thank you for bringing me the abundance. My body really likes them. So fortifying and healing. Apples are common, so people don’t understand how powerful they are. There is so much in one apple. It’s hard to explain. But, I know. I can feel it. Deep in my body. All the way into my soul and down to my toes.” —James
